Attention everyone who has used your planner all year: how did you make it work?

Recently I had a post request from a reader who wants to know from people who have been using the same planner all year. How have you made it work? And especially if your life changed this year, how did you adapt your planner usage to be able to use the same planner all year?

Please post a comment! Thanks!

  1. Using the same planner all year? Oh, I wish!!! Unfortunately I get ants in my pants after a while and feel the need to move around... although I'm getting ready for next year and if I'm good I may be able to stick with the same setup for the whole year :o)

  2. Still using my A5 Filofax with my own design inserts in them, not failed me yet :) Also use a Filofax Personal size too to carry with me. Seems to work for me.

  3. I used the myAgenda mini planner (5"x7"x1", so the perfect size to be able to carry everywhere but still have enough writing space), and have been using it for the past 18 months! It is a weekly planner (with monthly views as well), and the weeks are divided into vertical columns for each day, and then each day is divided horizontally. The largest box is used for general info for the day, and then I used the other boxes for my exercise schedule, work schedule, and to-dos. There were lots of notes pages, favorites pages, trip planning pages, etc., which have just about all been filled--it's been nice being able to have all my information and notes together!! It was perfect for me.

    2. Here is the product page: http://www.momagenda.com/products.cfm?cID=25&pID=93

      Also larger version: http://www.momagenda.com/products.cfm?cID=25&pID=94

      And for moms: http://www.momagenda.com/products.cfm?cID=34

I've never tried a MyAgenda or Mom Agenda but they seem to be popular.

  5. Well I used my personal Finsbury from August 2012 until August this year... I did change my diary inserts a couple of times though!

  7. I haven't actually gone ALL YEAR yet...lol...but I've gone since April and already bought the same refills for next year. I use a ring bound in a personal size. And I made living, ever-changing sections, like Projects and Notes.

    1. What refills are you using? And what are your current roster of sections? Thanks!

    2. I use a Franklin Covey compact 365 Flourish. It comes with undated weekly and monthly refills. I bought several, since the total cost (with binder) is only $30, and I wanted the refills.

  8. I use a Franklin Covey classic sized day planner (2 pages per day). Huge changes happened for me this year - I gave birth to my first kiddo. So heading back to work and now having to manage childcare/house management differently definitely stressed my normal method of planning. I've incorporated the Bullet Journal technique on my notes page to include additional space for to-dos and things to remember, plus highlighters. I'm tinkering with some personal-use additions for my craft hobby, so some of the sub-sections have been living/ever-changing... but the date portion of the planner has remained the same. :)

  9. I've been using the same page layout the entire year (FF week per page + Notes), but I've changed from Pocket to Personal back in March. I think the key is to find a layout that works for you and tweak it to fit your needs. I also change out dividers and add/remove sections as needed, which keeps me from getting bored.

  10. Plannerisms planner....all year long. Although I have tinkered with how I use it at times, it has served me well. Along with that, I have incorporated a moleskin that's the same size as the planner, and I'm using that for to-do lists, any other lists and other miscellancous things. I'm looserly using one of Mark Forster's methods for time management with that. I think it's his "Final Version" that I'm using. These have worked for me better and longer than any other methods in the past.

    1. I'll try! I use the monthly calendars to record all birthdays, meetings, events, etc....anything that is date specific.

The weekly pages I use for things I need to do on those days. I have also tried listing my daily routines in the left margin and used the columns as daily checklists for those routines.

My moleskine notebook - I keep a running 'to-do' list there. I also have pages for notes for anything I need to record. I have separate pages for things like: tracking my spending, blood pressure readings, grocery lists, Christmas gift list. It's the same size as my Plannerisms planner, so they both stay in my bag and are with me all the time.

For the 'to-do' list in my notebook, I use a system devised by Mark Forster. Here's the link: http://markforster.squarespace.com/. It's very simple and has been pretty helpful for me. It's also nice to just have the notebook with me in case I need to write down information, a recipe, etc., or anything that is spur of the moment that I want to record.

I hope this helps...I have also entertained thoughts of the Bullet Journal, since I read about that a few weeks ago, but so far, I'm still sticking with what's been working for me and resisting the urge to try something new, LOL.

  11. I think that I've been doing pretty well with my current inserts for this year. I am changing it for next year though. I've been decorating my planner a lot more to use it because decorating it inspiring me to use it!
