Would you buy Plannerisms Planners?

I've had several people over the years ask me to design and publish my own Plannerisms planners, based on my experience using and reviewing so many different planners.

Well I'm happy to report that plans are in the works to make this happen! I have designed Plannerisms weekly planners with features like goal setting and recording pages, space each week to log daily goals, weekly space for lists and notes, monthly calendars, and more.  I've also designed daily planners with similar features.

I'm trying to gauge interest in these planners.  Would you be interested in buying planners engineered by me, with all my favorite planner features?

Please vote in the poll in the sidebar!

Thanks!!

  1. Wow, that's brilliant news! That would be my dream job, designing diaries! Such fun! Good luck with it x

  2. That sounds like a great idea!
At the moment I probably wouldn't buy one as I'm trying to stick to the Dodo Pad in my A5, but you never know... :)

  3. Please please please use good quality paper! This is a WONDERFUL idea! We will be lucky to have your expertise guide our year long planning! Best of luck!

  4. Yes I would, dependng on certain specifics of course. Mostly it cannot have spiral binding, and not be larger than A5 and it has to have time slots at least hourly for 8am-6pm. I hope it works out, and look forward to seeing the options!

  5. girlinmaths is right about the time slots and the sizing. Another suggestion is to give weekends the same amount of space as weekdays.I'm busier on weekends than I am during the week, and I hate when planner pages "cheat me" out of the weekend space I need. I am so excited to see what you come up with. It will be fabulous!

  6. It's interesting to read the comments above, as some of the feautures/sizes they want would turn me off. I loved your post about planner shopping online. I completely agreed with you on how to design a functional website that enables you to quickly find and select basic options so you can spend hours pouring over the details before making a decision. Since this would be your first planner, I'm assuming you wouldn't have that many options, but planners are as personal as the people who use them, so the more the better.

I love reading your reviews, but you and I have vastly different lifestyles. Therefore, your ideal planner probably wouldn't be mine. However, because I love planners and your posts so much, I might buy one even if it wasn't perfect for me. I'm always open to trying something different, but there are a few points that I don't like to compromise (i.e. paper quality, monthly/weekly).

Right now, because of your and Rori's posts/vlogs, I'm using the Women's Success Planner. I REALLY love it. I got the spiral bound quarterlies, the address book, and the soft leather cover (which is only getting more supple over time). I've gotten many compliments on it and find it's the right size and a pleasure to open, gaze upon, write in, and keep all things organized in one. The address book is superior to any I've ever come across or could imagine myself. I love the paper (never bleeds through) and all of the informational notes (especially the fruits and veg in season, as well as household reminders). Furthermore, I love that it's broken up into quarters and spiral-bound (I also love the thinness of the address book). These make the planner small enough to carry easily, and I don't need the whole year at my fingertips (this planner makes contigencies for that, as well). I could go on about this planner, but now I've sidetracked myself!

The point of all of this, I suppose, is first - congratualtions on getting this opportunity! Second - I'd probably buy your planner if it met most of my criteria because I like your website and think you would create a well thought out planner. Third - if you do make a planner, options are great (unlike the poster above, I LOVE that the Women's Success Planner is spiral bound). Fourth - good luck; and if you ever need ideas, input, research, please ask! I hope your move goes smoothly. :)

  7. Fantastic news and good luck, something i'd certainly be interested in as i'm always on the lookout for great ways of being organised and believe me, I need all the help I can get :)

  8. I have never been a fan of spiral bindings but am using a Personal Planner UK right now and loving it. The spiral is well made and doesn't catch on anything. They sell an optional leather cover, and that would take care of spiral problems for me but they don't have the large size, which is the planner I am using. So have thought about ordering a custom cover from Renaissance Arts if I get this planner again. The paper is soooo good--heavy and white--and does not even begin to tear away from the spirals.

    1. Mstraat I don't know if you saw Accessories on the Personal Planner UK website, but they make leather covers specifically to fit their planners. At the time I looked they came only in black. I haven't tried their planner covers so I can't vouch for them, but I do have several Renaissance Arts leather covers and they are excellent.

    2. But they only have covers for the medium and small sizes, and I have the large. And I got off topic, but the basic need for me in a planner is good, preferably white, paper. Yes, I would buy a planner you designed!

    3. Oh I didn't realize they only have covers for the small and large ones. No worries, I'm sure Ren Art can customize a great one for you, and their color selection is excellent!

And thanks for saying you would buy my planner! :)

  9. Go for it! You will never please everyone. However, as you are something of 'aficionado' when it comes to buying/using planners, you are likely to produce a good all-rounder. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

  10. I would buy one. I am a little bit sad, that it is not possible to buy the dodo pad in the pocketsize. So if you do so (pocketsize) i would buy them. I think the shipping to germany is not so expensive.

  11. But Laurie, if you designed and published a planner that was absolutely perfect for you, what would you write about on Plannerisms?? You would have reached planner Nirvana! ;-)

    1. I'm SURE I would continue to write about other planners. I have to keep my eye on the competition, right? ;D

  12. I would love it if you would share your process. I'm an engineer and I'm always on the search for the planner that would work perfectly for an engineer's day. I want to make it myself but have no idea how to start. I would love to see what you come up with to see if it works and if it doesn't, I can start to play around with my own design.

  13. Theoretically a good idea as you know your stuff but your whole blog is based on your eternal search for the perfect planner so you will just be designing stuff you are not ultimately happy with yourself for people who will probably be suffering planner fail because the issues go beyond planners. Are you up for that? You'll have to come up with a lot of different planners to keep everyone happy for a short time but are you ready for the planner fails when they come? I love your blog but I think the whole appeal is that there is no such thing as a perfect planner because most of us have needs and issues that are beyond finding the perfect planner.

I have (literally) hundreds of notebooks and planners and they all fail eventually - boredom on my part, frustration, trying to control my environment, taking on too many tasks, compulsive list making etc etc. I know I am not alone.

    Brilliant idea though!

    1. janet, what I've made is my ideal planner. It's the format and setup of my self-drawn planner I've been using this year. It has a lot of features I've seen people request of planners on my own blog and other planner websites.

After years of searching for the 'perfect planner' I realized it doesn't exist, so I created it. Like I said, it's perfect for me, and as we all know, I'm not easy to please.

I know it won't be perfect for everyone. As you pointed out, that's why there are so many different planners out there, because different people have different needs. But I think it's an excellent format, it satisfies many people's requests, and it's an excellent organizational tool that will work for most people in a variety of circumstances.

    2. Best of luck Laurie. I love your blog!

  14. I would definitely be interested, especially if you will shipping from the UK. So many of the great planners out there are from the USA and getting them sent over here is either expensive or complicated.

  15. Um, yes please! Though, as stated above, it would depend on what layouts you choose to go with. While FF paper is not ideal, I've adapted to what they offer and now have a system that works around that. I'm too old and set in my ways to stray too far from what I've got working for me. ;) Might we see a sample at some point in the future?

  16. Oh my gosh, I would SO buy a Plannerisms Planner! You are very detailed and organized, and have such a talent! Of course you can't please everyone, but you sure can come CLOSE! Good Luck in your endeavors, and looking forward to see what you will have to offer!

  17. I would prefer to use a planner formatted for my FF personal and pocket planners. They are good quality and portable. So when you design the new format please make it available for FF size binders.

  18. My dear Laurie
I have been living under my rock for so long, I am only now finding out about this!
I think it is a wonderful idea, and like many already said, it is impossible to please everybody, but I am sure that many of us would be more than happy to try one of your planners and recommend it to as many people as we can.
Please do keep us posted, I promise I am coming out of hiding.
And welcome back to "sunny" UK!! :)
